Sedation Options We Offer

Nitrous Oxide You may know it as laughing gas. It is inhaled through a small mask placed over the nose, works within a few minutes, and wears off just as quickly once the mask is removed. Your child stays awake and can still respond to us, they just feel more relaxed and at ease. Most children feel back to normal fairly quickly once the mask is removed, though every child responds slightly differently.

General Anesthesia For children who need a deeper level of calm, require extensive dental treatment, or have special healthcare needs, we may recommend general anesthesia. Under general anesthesia, your child will be completely asleep and comfortably unaware of the dental procedure.

• A Safe, Monitored Environment: This option is safely performed in a hospital setting. A highly trained Anesthesiologist will administer the medication and continuously monitor your child’s vital signs, allowing our dental team to focus entirely on restoring your child’s smile.
• A Stress-Free Experience: The primary benefit of general anesthesia is that your child will feel no pain and have no memory of the treatment. It also allows us to complete all necessary dental work in a single, comprehensive visit, saving your child from the stress of multiple appointments.
• Going Home: After the procedure, your child will wake up in a comfortable recovery area. It is completely normal for them to feel groggy, sleepy, or a little confused. Because the effects take time to fully wear off, a parent or legal guardian must take them straight home and stay with them to monitor their rest and recovery for the remainder of the day.
